Jaafar is the publisher of Daily Nigerian and he was the bold journalist that published the viral Ganduje Video where the governor was caught on tape  collecting $5 million from contractors.

At the risk of his life and that of his young family, Jaafar called off the bluff of Ganduje and his camp who came with him with every thing in their disposal by going ahead to publish the video yesterday morning.

Like a wild fire, the video went viral and was the most discussed topic on Nigeria’s social media yesterday.

It was the number 1 trending topic on Twitter all through yesterday and it is currently the  number 2.

What makes Jaafaar unique is that his type is rare in a society where honour and integrity are for sale to the highest bidder.

Jaafar could have sold the video for $ 1 Million dollars, offer higher than this was made to him by Ganduje’s camp but he choose not to sell rather to do what is right.

Jaafar courageous journalism did not start today. It was this same man that exposed Emir Sanusi and revealed how Sanusi turned the ancient Kano Emirate into his personal ATM.

That report rattled and shook   the Kano Emirate council to its root that Sanusi was nearly removed by Kano state house of Assembly members until Nigerians intervened.

It is important to state that Jaafar is on the run with his young family following relentless threats to their safety.

Formost rights group, Amnesty International, and the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists have both expressed grim worries about Mr Jafaar’s safety, calling on both the Kano State governor and the Nigerian government to ensure neither the journalist nor his family faced any debilitating backlash as a result of his journalism.

Jaafar is a national treasure and we owe him that duty to make sure that no harm befalls him or his family.
