Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission says it has detected the names of 1224 dead persons in the voter register in Adamawa State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Kassim Gaidam, who said this at the commencement of a two-day workshop for Election Monitoring Implementers for the North East Zone, in Yola, the state capital, disclosed that the names were uncovered through the voter clean-up exercise in the state. “The statistics of 1,224 dead persons, which we can confirm were on the register, were uncovered during the recent display of voter register for claims and objections,” he added.
