The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has attacked the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its former national chairman, Chief Bisi Akande.
ASUU described Akande as the grandfather of half-baked government.
This was in reaction to Akande’s earlier attack on the union where he accused the striking lecturers of producing vagabonds and unemployable graduates.
ASUU wondered how a supposed leader of Akande’s status could render a statement with warped logic.
Akande had during the commissioning of one-storey classroom donated to Abolarin college in Oke Ila Orangun, condemned the strike embarked upon by ASUU.
The elder statesman was quoted to have said the union was destroying the education system with demands that were not genuine.
In reaction in a statement on Sunday, ASUU chairman, University of Ibadan, Dr. Deji Omole, said Akande’s recent outburst against the ongoing patriotic struggle by ASUU to save public university education in Nigeria clearly exposed that he is just an elder only by age but not a statesman.
